An MBA graduate of Hautes Études Commerciales (HEC) Montréal and a graduate of McGill University,B. Commerce, Wanda Bedard is founder and owner since 1991 of a manufacturing business in the custom sheet metal sector.
Following a number of years as a volunteer with UNICEF Canada, Wanda Bedard established 60 million girls, a public foundation, in 2006. The organization is completely volunteer run and raises funds for education projects for girls in the developing world. 60 million girls has since invested $2.4 million supporting 20 projects in 14 countries, with administrative costs of less than 1%, directly benefitting over 20,000 children.
Wanda is a member of the International Advisory Board of McGill’s Institute for the Study of International Development (ISID). Wanda is also a member of the Advisory Board of Institut Mallet which supports the study and promotion of philanthropy in Québec and Canada. She has been a member of the jury for the Montreal YWCA’s Women of Distinction Award since 2009.
Wanda Bedard received the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal in February 2012 at the inaugural ceremony at Rideau Hall.
Laurie Normand-Starr Humanitarian Award received May 9th, 2011 on the occasion of the Table of Hope annual Gala.
Wanda was awarded the $20,000 ‘’International Service Award’’ from the Velan Foundation and the Rotary Club in December, 2009.
She was the recipient of the World of Difference 100 Award in 2009 given by The International Alliance for Women.
She was the winner of the Women of Distinction Award by the Montreal Women’s Y in 2008.
She was named Personality of the Week by Montreal newspaper LaPresse/Radio-Canada, in October 2006.

Diplômée de l’Université McGill (B. Commerce) et de HÉC Montréal (MBA), Wanda Bedard est la fondatrice et propriétaire, depuis 1991, d’une entreprise manufacturière dans le secteur de la fabrication métallique sur mesure.
Après un certain nombre d’années de bénévolat pour UNICEF Québec, Wanda Bedard a mis sur pied, en 2006, la Fondation 60 millions de filles. L’organisme fonctionne sur une base entièrement volontaire pour soutenir des projets d’éducation destinés aux filles des pays en développement. De plus, il cherche continuellement à innover en matière de méthodes d’apprentissage appliquées aux régions éloignées. À ce jour, 60 millions de filles a investi 2,4 millions $, répartis sur 20 projets dans 14 pays différents, avec des coûts d’administration toujours inférieurs à 1%. Au total, la fondation a aidé plus de 20 000 enfants à travers le monde.
Wanda est membre du Conseil consultatif international de l’Institut d’Études en développement international de McGill (ISID). Elle est aussi membre du Conseil consultatif de l’Institut Mallet, orienté vers l’étude et la promotion de la philanthropie au Québec et au Canada. Et, depuis 2009, elle est membre du jury du Prix Femmes de mérite octroyé par le Y des Femmes de Montréal.
Wanda Bedard a reçu la Médaille du jubilée de diamant de la Reine Élizabeth II en février 2012, lors d’une cérémonie à Rideau Hall.
On lui a remis le Laurie Normand-Starr Humanitarian Award le 9 mai 2011, lors du gala annuel de la Table de l’espoir.
En décembre 2009, la Fondation Velan et les Clubs Rotary lui ont octroyé le Prix du Service international, d’un montant de 20 000$.
En 2009 également, elle a été récipiendaire du Prix Monde de différence octroyé par l’Alliance internationale des femmes.
Elle a été la gagnante du Prix Femmes de distinction octroyé par le Y des Femmes de Montréal en 2008.
Elle a été nommée Personnalité de la semaine par le journal La Presse et Radio-Canada en octobre 2006.
